Volunteers are Our Greatest Resource

The St. Albert Botanic Park has flourished because people have given their time and talents to build a beautiful botanic garden in this city. It is meaningful work with a wonderful outcome. It is a great place to meet people, make new friends, share talents, and learn.

There are volunteers of all ages with a wide range of interests: gardening, photography, carpentry, construction, horticulture, farming, fundraising, administration, selling, food preparation, education, non-profit governance, marketing and so many more! If you are interested in helping out, no matter what your skills and interests are, we have a place for you.

The great thing about being a volunteer in our Park is meeting wonderful people who are passionate about designing, maintaining and promoting a living jewel in the heart of our community. Last year volunteers contributed over 13,000 hours of their time!  The sense of accomplishment and satisfaction that comes from creating and enjoying a beautiful space is indescribable!

If you are only available on evenings or weekends, our volunteer committee can help you become acquainted with the Park and find an area where you feel comfortable working.  Most volunteers at the Park come when they can – once a week, once a month – any time given is greatly appreciated.

Volunteers are required to pay an annual membership fee: $15 for an individual, $20 for a couple, and $25 for a family.

As an active volunteer, you are eligible for member benefits based on the number of recorded volunteer hours you contribute to the operation and governance of the Society and the Park.  Member benefits include but are not limited to:

    • Discounts on the rental of the John Beedle Centre
    • Growing your own vegetables in the trial garden
    • Purchasing perennial plants at a discounted price
    • Discount at the Park Gift Shop

Specific details about the volunteer hours required for individual benefits are available on request.

From Spring through the Fall, work parties are held every Tuesday and Friday morning at 9:00 a.m.

Coffee is held on the Gift Shop patio at 10:30 am.

Drop in to see what is happening and where you might be able to help!
