Sunflowers

Sunflowers have been an important part of the history at the St. Albert Botanic Park.  The old fashioned sunflowers grown by pioneers were tall and stately.  They provided colour and amazement due to their extreme height.  The sunflower was chosen for the logo of the Park.

The seeds you received today are the variety Peredovik.  They have large flowers with black shiny seeds that attract many varieties of birds due to their high oil content.   They grow 4 to 6 feet tall making them excellent for use in flower beds.  They are easy to grow and require little attention.
