The Peony Patch began with 49 Peonies donated by the St. Albert Garden Club.  On September 12, 1994 Garden Club members (and Botanic Park volunteers) John Beedle, Patricia Bell and Gudrun Bublitz planted the peonies which had been growing in a nursery bed in Patricia’s garden for two years.  Properly planted peonies are one of the most hardy and long-lived perennials we can grow in our area.  Although their bloom time is short, the flowers are amazing and visitors love to visit this garden which signals that spring is underway.
